Mecus — Terms of Service

These Terms govern use of the Mecus app, website, payments, the Pro pass, Mecus Credits, the Boss Party Finder (BETA), the Maple Scheduler (BETA), screen sharing, the Discord community, and related features.

1. Nature of the service

• Mecus is a Windows overlay utility that provides convenience features such as a timer, web/music panels, an input-mode helper, external-window display, and screen sharing.
• Mecus does not read or modify the memory or files of other programs, and does not provide code injection, packet tampering, automated input, or security-bypass features.
• Some features may be limited or suspended due to policy changes by external platforms such as operating systems, security software, Discord, Firebase, Cloudflare, and Paddle (the payment processor).
• Mecus is not an official service of any specific game company or platform; each platform sets its own terms and operating policies.
• Mecus is not an official service of, and is not affiliated with, NEXON Korea, MapleStory, or Maplescouter. Public character information is based on the NEXON Open API, and conversion stats and boss multipliers are shown for reference based on lookups from the public Maplescouter service.

2. Accounts and eligibility

• Account-based features require Discord login. Members must keep their account secure; damages caused by account sharing are the member's responsibility.
• The service assumes users aged 14 or older. If a minor makes a paid purchase, the consent of a legal guardian is required.
• For security and to prevent duplicate use, one account is intended for one device; logging in from a new device may end the existing session.

3. Pro pass and Mecus Credits

• The Pro pass is a digital pass that unlocks the app's Pro features for 30 days. It is purchased by deducting 4,000 Mecus Credits from your balance; it is not a direct cash purchase (Mecus Credits are a top-up-only balance).
• The Pro pass can be stacked up to a maximum of 90 days. If more than 61 days of Pro time remain, additional purchases are restricted to prevent exceeding the 90-day cap; purchases become available again once 60 days or fewer remain.
• Mecus Credits are a Mecus-app-only digital balance. One credit equals KRW 1, and credits are sold in packs (KRW 5,000 / 10,000 / 30,000).
• Mecus Credits are spent on in-app digital features within the Mecus app. They are single-purpose and have no use outside the app.
• Paid chat/notifications are used by deducting Mecus Credits. Free chat is limited to 1 line (basic) only: free members may use it once per day and Pro members twice per day, resetting daily at KST midnight. Free chat and any free-of-charge items are independent of credits, have no cash value, and are not eligible for refunds.
• The message, display nickname, and Discord profile link of a notification (cheer) sent by a member are displayed publicly to other users; the public display lasts approximately 12 hours from the time of sending and then disappears. A member's own sent-notification history remains available in their account for approximately 7 days for settlement and dispute-response purposes.
• The operator may leave a reply to a notification sent by a member; the reply may be displayed publicly together with that notification and delivered to its author. Notifications and replies that violate applicable laws or community policy may be hidden or deleted without prior notice.
• Notification messages written by a member are used within the scope of on-screen display in the service and operational records (including channels reviewed by the operator).
• The Pro pass and Mecus Credits may be used only within Mecus app features. They cannot be exchanged for cash, withdrawn, transferred, gifted, traded between users, resold, exchanged for external goods, or used to purchase game items.
• Once a digital benefit such as Pro activation or the spending of credits on an in-app feature begins, refunds or withdrawal of subscription may be restricted.
• Members may not cash out the Pro pass or Mecus Credits or trade them with others. Use may be restricted where abnormal use is suspected, such as cashing out, account trading, payment-method theft, money laundering, or exchange for game items or external goods.
• Credit validity and expiration. Mecus Credits have different validity periods depending on how they are granted.
  • Purchased (paid) credits are valid for 5 years from the last top-up; any additional top-up renews the validity period of your entire credit balance from the date of that top-up (rolling). Unused paid balances may be refunded under the Refund Policy, and the statutory limitation period is 5 years.
  • Event (free) credits expire 90 days after the grant date. Free credits have no cash value, are not eligible for refund or exchange, and expired credits are not restored.
  • Spend order: when credits are used, the soonest-to-expire event (free) credits are deducted first, followed by purchased (paid) credits.

4. Use of third-party services

• Compliance with third-party terms. Users must review the terms and operating policies of the external programs and online services they use, and must not use Mecus in a manner that may violate those policies. Mecus is not responsible for any disadvantage arising from such use.
• Members must check the terms and operating policies of the games and online services they use, and must not use Mecus in a prohibited or potentially risky manner.

5. Screen sharing and external content

• Screen sharing lets a user offer a chosen screen to other participants. Before sharing, users must check for exposure of personal data, messengers, payment information, account information, and sensitive screens.
• Creating and joining screen-share rooms is available only to Discord-logged-in members. A room created by a free member allows up to 2 participants and a room created by a Pro member up to 6; limits may be adjusted based on operating conditions and abuse-prevention policy.
• Disadvantages may arise under the policies of external services during screen sharing, so members must check the relevant service's policy and use the feature at their own responsibility.
• Mecus does not guarantee the content of, or transactions on, external web pages, the Discord community, or user-written messages.

5-1. Boss Party Finder (BETA)

• The Boss Party Finder is a community board on which users post and manage recruitment listings and applications based on public character data they enter manually or refresh via the NEXON Open API and the public Maplescouter service (such as nickname, server, job, level, combat power, conversion stats, and boss multipliers).
• Data based on the NEXON Open API and Maplescouter is shown according to what those external services provide or publicly display, and may be missing or differ from the actual state due to lookup timing, maintenance, API delay, private profiles, or external-service changes.
• Where possible, source links are shown alongside values looked up from Maplescouter. Mecus does not own or guarantee those formulas, figures, or results, and users must verify the source and latest state themselves.
• Maplescouter-based conversion lookups are performed only when the user presses the profile-refresh button, and a cooldown may apply to refresh requests to protect the external service and prevent misuse.
• Where the original character-refresh time can be identified in the Maplescouter response, that time may be displayed; where it cannot, Mecus does not arbitrarily estimate or guarantee the original refresh time.
• To comply with NEXON's notice that Open API data must be refreshed within 30 days, character data retrieved and stored via the NEXON Open API may not be displayed as-is once outdated, and users must look it up again when a refresh is needed.
• Mecus does not guarantee the authenticity of specs, links, or conversations entered by users, or the outcome of any party.
• Clicking a nickname or member entry may open a Discord profile or the official Discord server; actual conversation and follow-through are the responsibility of the users involved.
• Listings or applications intended for impersonation, false specs, defamation, exposure of personal data, account trading, cash trading, paid leveling, inducement to violate a service's terms, or promotion of illegal programs may be removed or blocked.
• During BETA, the recruitment flow, input fields, Discord integration, retention period, and visibility policy may change.

5-2. Maple Scheduler (BETA)

• The Maple Scheduler automatically syncs and displays per-character boss, daily, and weekly content progress using a NEXON Open API key registered by the member.
• Members may register only an API key issued from their own NEXON account, and must not register another person's key or share their own key with others. Any disadvantage arising from a violation is the member's responsibility.
• Registered API keys are stored encrypted on the server and are deleted immediately upon deregistration or membership withdrawal.
• The scheduler is operated in compliance with the NEXON Open API Terms of Service; in line with the requirement that API-based data be refreshed within 30 days, outdated data may not be displayed as-is.
• This feature is provided as a BETA and may be changed or discontinued without notice due to NEXON API policy or structural changes or operational needs.

6. External links and third-party content

• External links may appear in the app or on the website. Goods/services, payment, personal-data collection, and customer support on external pages are the responsibility of the relevant external operator, and Mecus does not guarantee their content or any external transaction.

7. Nicknames and community use

• Nicknames and Discord-linked information may be visible to other users.
• Profanity, hate, exposure of personal data, impersonation, promotion of illegal programs, account trading, cash trading, gambling, speculation, adult content, malicious links, or dispute-inducing content may be removed or blocked.
• The operator may review content and account records to the extent necessary for reports, legal compliance, service protection, and dispute response.

8. Withdrawal of membership and data handling

• On withdrawal, account benefits such as the Pro pass, Pro time, and Mecus Credits are not recoverable.
• Even after withdrawal, transaction, consent, and security records required for payment, refunds, disputes, abuse response, or legal retention may be stored separately under the Privacy Policy.
• Free or event credit grants and giveaways expire upon withdrawal and are not refundable in cash.

9. Service limitations and limitation of liability

• The operator may change, restrict, or suspend features for security, incident response, policy changes, prevention of illegal/improper use, and compliance with external-platform policies.
• Damages arising from a member's breach of these terms, concurrent use of illegal programs, payment-method theft, account sharing, or violation of third-party service policies are the member's responsibility.
• Absent intent or gross negligence, Mecus is not liable for damages arising from external-platform outages, third-party policy changes, the member's PC environment, use of external links, or prohibited use against any service.

10. Changes to these terms

• The operator may amend these terms when necessary; material changes may be announced via the app or website or may require re-consent.
• If a member does not agree to the amended terms, they may stop using the service and withdraw.

In case of any discrepancy, the Korean-language version of these Terms prevails for customers in South Korea.
